Planning before concrete arrives
Height, soil pressure, drainage behind the wall, surcharge loads and nearby structures determine how a retaining wall should be designed. Taller or more complex walls may require engineering and permits before construction begins.
Built for Southeast Minnesota conditions
Freeze-thaw and water behind a wall are a difficult combination in Minnesota. Drainage, footing depth and backfill details are essential for limiting movement and frost-related pressure.
Finish and project options
Poured concrete can be left with a clean formed appearance or integrated with other landscape finishes. On some sites, segmental retaining-wall systems may be more appropriate than cast concrete; the site and design should drive the choice.
